The M81 also has a mail client, browser, 3D gaming improved, USB 2.0 support and high speed data EDGE, and the M81 lasted approximately 6 hours. It is a fairly well specified phone - not as good as the Nokia 5500, but certainly better than the Nokia 5140i.

This is a good deal leaner than older people looking handset, but then the M75 came with a reinforced metal frame that the M81 does not appear to have. However, the M81 is resistant to dust and water, and also comes with a lens cover for the camera - so it should probably survive most things you can throw at it.

The BenQ-Siemens M81 is the latests in the series M robust apparatus of this manufactuter, in the wake of the ME75, M75 and going all the way back the Siemens M30 active in the year 2000 (and even the Siemens S10 Actively few years before that). They slogged it out with the rival Nokia 5000 series for several years now.

There is also an option GPS accessory BenQ-Siemens say the M81 can turn into a navigation system although details are sketchy. However, it would be interesting to make a rival to the Benefon Twig Discovery, although we believe that the display 132×176 pixels will hinder its ability M81.

BenQ-Siemens say that the M81 will be available in Graphite Black and Blue Steel color schemes for delivery from Q3 2006.

So, it’s a little coincidental that the BenQ-Siemens M81 should be announced so soon after the Nokia 5500 Sport, but here it is. But while the Nokia 5500 is a very exciting in itself, it turns out that the BenQ-Siemens M81 is basically just a slight update of last year’s model M75. Or in other words, it is the BenQ-Siemens C81 in a case rubbery.

As the M75, M81 has a 132×176 pixel screen, 1.3 megapixel camera, Bluetooth, an MP3/AAC player and RSMMC memory expandable using maps, although the M81 is now boast stereo Bluetooth and a flashlight. It is a little lighter than the M75 too - BenQ-Siemens E81 weighs 96 grams or 14 grams less than the old handset.
