Motorola FONE F3 GSM Phone and F3c CDMA Phone Electric Charge

Motorola FONE F3Motorola said that the so-called “ClearVision” billboard uses electrophoretic (EPD), which actually is a type of digital ink. EPD A display consists of a number of particles (typically suspended in a sort of fluid) which have a light side and a dark waist. “An electric charge” flips on the particle. It is a bit like a microscope reversi board, with dark and light sides of each particle.

The rest of the technical details of the Motorola FONE F3 / F3c are not known at the time of going to press, but they will presumably be confirmed at a later date.

There is a major advantages which are more than more traditional SPD displays such as TFT panels or OLED technologies. First, the screen can be read even in direct sunlight because it behaves exactly like a piece of printed paper, and secondly the energy consumption of the EPD display is very low, and that electrophoretic displays are basically very simple, there is a potential for saving space and weight. There are two major drawbacks it is a monochrome only solution, and in low light conditions electrophoretic display will be very difficult to read because it has no light inside its own (unless Motorola have indeed been very clever).

We understand that the FONE is 9mm thick, which makes it one of the slimmest devices on the market, but the main point of interest with the MOTOFONE is the display.

Otorola have designed the phone Err FONE To be durable and resistant to dust, and also very easy to use with a simple interface and voice instructions, plus a “loud” for noisy environments. The MOTOFONE seems to be aimed at the lower end of the market, as there is no mention of a MP3 player and no sign of expandable memory – and also the FONE F3 comes with a series of functions to help prepay / pay-as-you-Go customers to keep track of charges.

The Motorola FONE F3 (also known as the MOTOFONE) format is a very slim bar phone that’s due to hit the market by the end of the year. There are two versions the FONE F3 is a GSM phone, the CDMA F3c is a version for North America and other markets CDMA.

This is certainly an interesting device when it comes to the display, and it might even mean a renaissance for monochrome screens that the billboard does electrophoretic have some advantages over traditional LCD.
