Motorola MOTO Q 8 3G Capabilities Limited GPRS and EDGE

Quite why we had to wait 18 months for a GSM version of Motorola Moto Q is a mystery, but finally it’s here. For example, Motorola has the MOTO Q 8 arrived in the nick of time to make the breakthrough that Motorola needs in this market segment.

Motorola MOTO Q8

Although Motorola Moto Q 8 is equipped with the new Windows Mobile 6.0 operating system, it is strictly the model of last season. Yes, it has a good screen 320×240 pixels, but it has no 3G capabilities and is limited to GPRS and EDGE. And despite the efforts of Motorola pushing the potential of WiFi capabilities of the Moto Q, the fact is that it requires a new card SDIO.

Motorola Moto Q GSM It may be hard, but the cold reality is that Motorola is a late comer in the market with a device distinctly underwhelming. If it was a Nokia phone or BlackBerry, and the Moto Q GSM wake up some interest. But the problem is that Motorola have no presence in this market especially outside of North America, and only 8 Moto Q will not help.

However, the competitor that really seals the fate of the MOTO Q 8 is not a BlackBerry, a Nokia or a Samsung. This is another Motorola. Yes, the MOTO Q 8 was trumped by the much better MOTO Q 9 to be launched at about the same time, and we suspect only a slight premium on the price.

If you live in a country without the support EDGE, the MOTO Q 8 offers very little, but the relatively high speed data support that comes with EDGE could make it usable. If you live somewhere with 3G coverage, then the Moto Q 9 makes this version a bit redundant.
