Nokia N82 Sleek Keyboard Large Screen QVGA
Posted on December 24, 2007 in Nokia
The very first thing that hits you on the Nokia N82 is how it looks ordinary. When the N95 was frankly a little crazy with its two-way cursor, the N82 is a simple piece design with a sleek keyboard and large screen QVGA.
Just about everything, the N95 has been directly focused on the N82. There is a five-megapixel camera with xenon flash, autofocus and a Carl Zeiss, with the support 3G HSDPA, WiFi, memory expandable microSD (with 2 GB in the sales package), A-GPS (Assisted GPS), a video call camera, stereo FM radio and Bluetooth.
It is a smartphone Symbian S60, it comes with a web browser, email client, document viewer, development and player N82 also has a set of information management Personal (PIM) applications. Nokia is preinstalled Maps for the use of GPS base, but expect to pay a fee for the mapping of more advanced functions. The video capture is an impressive 640×480 pixels at 30 frames per second.
Because this is based on the N95, you can expect everything to work well (and yes, some of the first N95s were buggy, but the owners can easily update their firmware of the phone now ). The camera quality should be excellent, and it is especially good optical rather than raw megapixels. A nice new feature is an iPhone style sensor that changes in orientation of the screen when the phone is in rotation.
There are some drawbacks. The look of the Nokia N82 means that there is no dedicated multimedia keys, and the screen is smaller by 2.4 inch in size, compared to 2.6 inch on the N95 (and 2.8 on the N95 8GB). We expect that the new Nokia N95 8GB continue to be sold alongside the N82 as the N95 8GB is a little stronger specified.
Template name is a bit of a gift - Nokia N82 is the positioning of a product line slightly lower with the new N81. This leaves the N95 8GB and Nokia E90 devices like lighthouses in the range Nokia.
Perhaps the Nokia N82 is a bit disappointing in some respects. If you already have a Nokia N95 then there is no real reason to change your equipment. However, if you are in the market for a quality 3G phone with a first rate camera, while the Nokia N82 will be very hard to beat. Say that the Nokia N82 is now available from some dealers at a subsidized cost of around € 450 (£ 300 or approximately).
