O2 Cocoon Minimalist Design

The name Cocoon gives an idea on the design, the case is outside bend (of the design sketches at the bottom of this page will give you the best idea of the design), which is the device very elegant. In many respects, not unlike the design of the B & O Serene, but O2 Cocoon is much more highly specified device.

The outer case on the O2 Cocoon has a billboard hidden with large type letters LED. This is a little like Fujitsu F703i and Sony Ericsson Z610i concept. The external screen can display track information, caller ID or other messages.

Open O2 Cocoon and the minimalist design continues in the interior with a very discreet and very little in layout. There is a QVGA (240×320 pixels) on the screen and what appears to be a secondary video camera (which should make it a 3G phone). Function keys is quite simple, but look on the side of the O2 Cocoon and you will see that the media are discreetly mounted outside. This arrangement means that you can use the media’s Cocoon, if it is open or closed, but it could probably take a little practice.

Cocoon has a 2-megapixel autofocus camera, there is also an MP3 player, FM radio with RDS, expandable memory up to 2 GB (we believe that the O2 Cocoon uses miniSD cards). Other details are not known, but you can expect the O2 Cocoon to come with a web browser and email client as well.

Another intelligent feature with O2 Cocoon is a device called niche. Really, it’s just a docking station with a charger incorporated, but it turns the Cocoon into a kind of desktop MP3 player, clock radio.

The overall look and the concept of O2 Cocoon was designed by the Swedish firm Syntes Studio, and their design (below) gives a clearer view of the Cocoon’s elegant curves.
