O2 - XDA Exec is a Very Flexible Design

Posted on December 13, 2007 in O2

The XDA Exec is the latest in a long series of XDAs O2, and it is true state of the art stuff. It is not small and it is not so pretty, but if you look for a PDA which is nearly everything a PDA can at the moment, and you do not mind to pay a hefty price for the privilege, it is worthy of interest.

O2 - XDA Exec

This is the first PDA from O2 to support 3G, and a camera side of the screen allows you to make video calls, while a second camera on the back will shoot stills at up to 1280 x 960 pixels and capturing. This is a very flexible, but it seems for a lot of bulk to carry in your pocket, on the whole, the XDA Exec weighs 285g. And it is interesting to note that the keyboard, while considerably more important than any other PDA keyboard we have seen in recent years, is not big enough for touch-typing.

Both Bluetooth and 802.11b are included, which allows you to hop on wireless networks in the range and when to use a Bluetooth headset for voice calls. A wireless headset is probably the best option for voice communications, in fact, the other two being the helmet wired provided the equipment and holding your ear-a job for which it is a bit too large.

o2 - XDA Exec Flat

The thing immediately banged on the XDA Exec is its size: it is larger than usual because it incorporates a (relatively) large keyboard inside a hull design. Like a Tablet PC, you can rotate the screen and lay it flat, face outermost, if you do not want to use the keyboard. When you rotate the 640 x 480 pixels, 3.6 diagonal inch screen reorients it automatically format landscape to portrait, but you can easily change the direction manually using an icon on the ‘Today screen.

The XDA Exec running Windows Mobile 5, an updated version of Microsoft’s handheld operating system. Many changes from the previous version are under the hood, with the general look and still familiar. Among the changes include improvements to the software embedded in Word and Excel Mobile Mobile (name of Pocket Word and Pocket Excel), the introduction of a PowerPoint viewer and two new soft buttons on the touch screen menu whose roles change depending on what application you are using at the time.
