Sony Ericsson K550i Expandable Memory

Posted on December 22, 2007 in Sony Ericsson

The Sony Ericsson K550i (and the i-mode option, the K550im) are perhaps a good example of how technology advances in the mobile phone industry. Almost two years ago, Sony Ericsson announced what was then their high-end camera phone, the K750i. Today, the K550i share almost exactly the same characteristics, but as the number designation shows, Sony Ericsson now regards this as a portable device for midrange.

Basically then, the K550i is very similar to the K750i with a 2 megapixel camera with flash and autofocus, a 1.9 inch 176×220 pixels, Bluetooth, an FM radio and expandable memory.

There are some important differences though - the biggest of which is that the Sony Ericsson K550i is only 14mm thick (compared with 21mm thick for the K750i), the keyboard arrangement is different (just think about design classic T610), a software suite Summer improved (it now contains an RSS reader, for example). And of course, there are great chances to be much cheaper than starting in the summer K750i.

In addition to the K550i, there is also a variant K550im. The aircraft is a i-mode, which retains all the features of the K550i and adds a browser i-mode, although the keyboard layout is slightly different and K550im loses the “Cyber-shot” branding.
