The Sony Ericsson K790 are almost identical, except (see photo) is a 3G phone with a video camera secondary (in the grid above), and the K790 is a device EDGE. All other features are the same. Sony Ericsson say that both models should be available from Q2 2006 under the banner Black Velvet color.

The main feature with the Sony Ericsson K790 is the camera a unit with 3.2 megapixel autofocus, an image stabilizer, xenon flash and Bluetooth printing. There’s a neat feature called BestPic, which takes 9 pictures at once so you can choose the best.

Go beyond the camera, and this is a fairly typical high-end camera phone with a 240×320 pixel display 262000 colours, Bluetooth, expandable memory on the cards Memory Stick Micro, FM radio, WAP 2.0 browser, email client, MP3 player, QuickShare plus an RSS news reader (Mobile Gazette also carries an RSS feed).

It is a pretty standard size for a candy bar, 105×47x22mm and 115 grams. The physical dimensions are the same models for 3G and EDGE. Duration on GSM is 7 hours with 14 days standby, the 3G drops this period to 2.5 hours. In terms of aesthetics, the Sony Ericsson K790 camera looks like a typical Sony Ericsson, although it is not the most exciting looking handset in the range of Sony Ericsson, although the rear of the Sony Ericsson K790 not look properly as a digital camera.

Sony Ericsson K800i The Sony Ericsson K790 will be available in a K790a GSM 850/1800/1900 MHz configuration for the Americas, a K790c 900/1800/1900 MHz model for mainland China, more K790i 900/1800/1900 a model for the rest of the World. It is all very well for the image of a telephone with Cybershot, but this does not necessarily mean that the camera is any good. However, the Sony Ericsson K750 from the 2 megapixel camera is widely regarded as one of the best around, so the 3.2 megapixel unit in the K790 looks very promising.
